Summary
Steel Indo-Persian helmet. Inlaid silver decoration, flowing geometric pattern, entwined scrolls and leaves. Islamic inscription on panels around the base of the helmet. Two plume holders inlaid with gold. Sliding nose guard, shaped finial to each end, inlaid with silver and gold. Surmounted by a spike shaped finial with gold decoration. Chain mail suspended with steel and brass links. 'One of six Qajar or Top helmets, 'Kula- khud'. Late 18th to early 19th century. Bought from Leo. Pratt, Persian armour £10, 1938' (M. Jessup).
