Charles Paget Wade notebook entry number 388 (1340945.3 / SNO.MISC.959.3): 'Suit of Armour. Black lacquer Helmet of 30 plates with gold lacquer comb neck guard. Braided blue. Body piece of plain black lacquer. Tassets of gold lacquer braided blue. Small shoulder guards of vermillion lacquer. Sleeves on brocade (sketch of detail alongside) chain & gold plates. With ridges. Apron brocade & lacquer plaques. Leg guards of chain & vertical plates. Bear skin shoes. Mounted on Japanese figure. Long sword. Plain sheath of black lacquer. fr. Cheltenham.'
