Summary
Throat guard attached to mask (yodare-kake), of curved lacquered plates made to look like small plates laced together (kiritsuke kozane or ‘cut-and-attached small plates’), the blue silk lacing with cross-knots on the lowest plate. Not originally part of armour NT 1328750.

Purchased by Charles Paget Wade (1883–1956) from Wyndham Payne, 29 Portland Street, Cheltenham, 31 March 1943 (£6 for four dressed figures); given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor, 1951.
