Full description
English flintlock blunderbuss, c1765, by William Henshaw, London (Probably William Henshaw Snr., c1763 – c1780). Brass barrel of round cannon form with turned mouldings and a flared muzzle. The breech engraved and signed, HENSHAW, STRAND, LONDON, and stamped with London Gunmakers Company proof marks and the makers mark, WH. Engraved iron barrel tang. Retained to the stock by 2 barrel pins. Barrel length 48.2cm. Walnut full stock. Engraved brass furniture of rococo form comprising; buttplate, trigger guard, escutcheon, side-plate and 2 ramrod pipes. Flintlock of rounded form with border line engraving and signed HENSHAW. Overall length: 79.4cm
