Summary
Oil painting on panel, A la Ronde by Margaret L. R. Tudor (1884 - Devon, 1969), 1930-48. A view of A la Ronde in late Spring or Summer, looking towards the house from the south east. The small diamond-shaped windows edged with red at the far right of the building look out from the Study, those in the centre with green shutters are the Music Room windows and the green-shuttered windows of the Library are at the far left. The house is partly obscured by a tree in full leaf which occupies the centre middleground. The tree stands in an orchard in front of a low hedge. Trees frame the scene in the distance at the far left and far right. The paint handling is very loose and the brush strokes can be clearly seen. The style is impressionistic.
