Decoupage, the art of creating a decoration using cut paperwork. The images are applied to the surface of an object to add interest and pattern. Layers of detail can be achieved by building up additional sections of paper if required.
Summary
One of the set of six unusual green-painted hall chairs made for the Octagon, English, circa 1795. Together with two reproductions of the 1990's to complete the set. Each has three vertical uprights meeting at a point to form a tripod shape to the back which is surmounted by an octagonal panel applied with decoupage, on the seat the radiating woven string is stretched over the octagonal seat frame and nailed to the underside, the legs are also octagonal and are high-lighted in a darker green stripe and taper down to an X-stretcher.
