Summary
Slip coated earthenware harvest jug. 1829 North Devon. Dedicated to Miss Parminter. Made at the Fremington Pottery that supplied custom pieces to order for individual customers using local clay. Harvest Jugs were made for celebrations and covered with shapes and patterns from the natural world and sometimes inscribed with poems or sayings.. The inscription reads "None with the potter can compare, we make our pots with what potters are. Our great creator formed us of dust and to the same return we surely must. Miss Parminter A la Ronde February 1829."
