Summary
Pen and ink with white heightening on paper, Richard Sackville, 3rd Earl of Dorset (1589-1624), after Isaac Oliver (Rouen c.1565 – London 1617). A sketch of a large miniature portrait of Richard, 3rd Earl of Dorset, the original of which, by Isaac Oliver of 1616, is in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. Sackville was a prominent figure in the tiltyard and his interest in chivalrous pastimes is reflected in the pieces of armour on the table and floor. Framed with a detail of the head and shoulders in ebonised frame.
