Summary
Oil painting on panel, Thomas Sackville, 1st Earl of Dorset KG (1536-1608), British (English) School, late 16th century. A painted oval half-length portrait, turned slightly to the left, gazing to the left, holding a Lord Treasurer's staff in his left hand, in a figure-of-eight ruff, and wearing a blue/green gown beneath a light-brown fur surcoat. He wears a high-crowned black hat and has a gold chain of office with a medallion.
