Stanfield 1829. The painting depicts an extensive English landscape, with a country house (Earlstoke Park) in the middle distance. A horse-drawn wagon is on the lane, with sheep walking up towards the foreground, where a figure stands with a dog.

Painted for George Watson Taylor, MP (1771-1841); his sale, Christie's, May 1832, lot (?), bought in; Erlestoke Park sale (George Robins), 9 July - 1 August 1832, lot (?), bought 'Nathan', by whom sold to, or bought on behalf of, Lionel de Rothschild (1808-1879); his second son, Alfred de Rothschild (1842-1918), by whom given to Anna Louisa Watson Taylor, Lady Egerton (1843-1933); by whom bequeathed, in her will dated 28 July 1922, to her son Maurice, 4th & last Baron Egerton of Tatton (1874-1958); by whom bequeathed to the National Trust, with the house, gardens and contents of Tatton Park
