Full description
Flintlock holster pistol, Turkish c1800. Round iron barrel, the breech slightly flattened, incised with chiselled lines and engraved decoration, including a “stand of arms” motif. Brass front and rear sights. Retained to the stock by a small band of brass wire. The wooden ramrod damaged. Barrel length 31.4 cm. Calibre 12 mm. Wooden full stock, carved overall. Engraved brass furniture comprising; bulbous spurred butt cap with pronounced finial, trigger guard with decorative finial, pierced sideplate and 2 ramrod pipes. Scroll form iron trigger. Engraved flintlock, the thick curving plate of flat form with strongly bevelled edges. Square top frizzen with a serrated face and facetted back. Faceted pan. Retained to the stock by 2 sidenails. Overall length: 51.5cm.
