Full description
Flintlock pistol, Turkish c1800, with silver mounts. Round iron barrel, flat sided over its entire length and with chiselled decoration at the breech. The breech with an inlaid silver makers mark. Retained to the stock by a large embossed silver barrel band or sheath. Wooden ramrod with horn tip. Barrel length 36.5 cm. Calibre 17 mm. Wooden full stock, the grip bound with fine pattened silver wire, and the area behind the barrel tang covered with embossed silver sheet. Embossed silver furniture comprising; pommel cap trigger guard with decorative finial, pierced foliate sideplate and 1 ramrod pipe. One ramrod pipe of iron. Scroll tip to iron trigger. The flintlock with a flat, plain and curving plate, with bevelled edges. The cock sparsely engraved. Faceted square-top frizzen with serrated face. Faceted pan with raised lip; the frizzen spring with a cover plate. Retained to the stock by 2 sidenails. Overall length: 54.3cm.
