Summary
Syrup or Wet Drug Apothecary Jar, one of two, earthenware with tin-opacified lead glaze (maiolica), polychrome painted Hippomenes winning the race against Atalanta and the three golden apples, after a print by Antonio Tempesta (1555-1630) from Ovid’s Metamorphoses Book 10, Plate 97; Patanazzi workshop, Urbino, Italy, c. 1597-1600.
