Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Possibly Prince Frederick Louis, Prince of Wales (1707–1751), circle of Ozias Humphry, RA (British, 1742-1810), circa 1755. Oval. A bust-length portrait of a gentleman portrait wearing a pink jacket with gold embroidery with the teal-blue Riband and Star of the Garter, white chemise and frilled lace cravat, powdered wig worn en queue with black silk ribbon at the neck. It is close to a painting of the same sitter by Reynolds in Hartwell House (NT) which itself was based on a pastel, commissioned by Princess Augusta, the sitter's widow, of 1754 by Liotard in the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle.
