Summary
A Charles II Walnut daybed, England, c.1670-85, on eight scroll legs, with stretchers richly carved with scrolls. The seat and back covered with green silk brocade (probably originally gold) embroidered with flowers in silver thread and trimmed with a short ball fringe.
Provenance
Possibly acquired as a perquisite of office by Charles Sackville, 6th Earl of Dorset. Knole and the majority of its furniture were accepted by HM Treasury in part payment of death duties and transferred to the National Trust in 1946.
