Summary
A can from a set of six Sevres coffee cans and saucers. Cylindrical dark blue body decorated with gilt swags and scrolls, the oval panels painted with vases of flowers on marble slabs. The flaring straight sided saucers decorated in similar manner. c.1792. The set was reputedly given by Napoleon III to an ancestor of the present Lord Sackville. (En suite with C.20 and C.21).
Marks and inscriptions
painted marks in gold - all have double L (except for 1 cup), 'LG' (Le Guay), and all have incised mark (inventory card says see Michael Hall's notes for details of these).
