Summary
Oil painting on canvas, View of The Hague (The Mauritshuis and part of the Binnenhof) by Karel Klinkenberg (The Hague 1852 - The Hague 1924), signed Klinnkenberg, circa 1880. The Hague looking over the water towards the parliament buildings and a tree lined avenue. This painting, one of Klinkenberg's many pictures of his native city, is characteristic of his work, combining traditional town views with bright colouring and impressionistic brushwork. The Binnenhof is the Dutch government buildings; the small octagonal tower houses the Prime Minister's office. The Mauritshuis on the left is a former palace, now a museum.
