Caption
In the 1860s Brett moved away from landscapes to concentrate on coastal scenes and seascapes, especially the rocky coasts of Cornwall, Devon and Pembrokeshire. Nevertheless, the brilliant colouring and highly-wrought finish of his earlier work continued to be characteristic, as can be seen in this painting and its companion (‘Skag Rock’, also Wightwick).
