Summary
A stained oak spindle-back armchair, one of a group of three comprising one armchair and two side chairs, Lancashire/Cheshire, early/mid 19th century, with a shaped top rail and three plain horizontal bars joined by three rows of variously heighted decoratively turned spindles, all between a pair of uprights with turned tops, the rush seat with plain slender seat rails, the shaped armrests on turned baluster supports which extend down to form the front legs terminating in pad feet on domes, the front legs joined by a turned and shaped stretchers, a pair of spindle stretchers to each side, the rear square-section legs joined by a single stretcher.
