Summary
A group of three stained oak spindle-back chairs comprising one armchair and two side chairs, Lancashire/Cheshire, early/mid 19th century, the side chairs with shaped top rail and two plain horizontal bars joined by two rows of decoratively turned spindles, all between a pair of uprights with turned tops, the rush seat with a pair of turned front legs terminating in pad feet on domes, the front legs joined by a turned stretcher, two spindle stretchers to each side, the rear square-section legs joined by a single spindle stretcher; the armchair with a shaped top rail and three plain horizontal bars joined by three rows of variously heighted decoratively turned spindles, all between a pair of uprights with turned tops, the rush seat with plain slender seat rails, the shaped armrests on turned baluster supports which extend down to form the front legs terminating in pad feet on domes, the front legs joined by a turned and shaped stretchers, a pair of spindle stretchers to each side, the rear square-section legs joined by a single stretcher.
