Summary
An oak linen press, British, late 18th century, the cornice with dentil moulding above a band of chinoiserie fret relief carving, a pair of cupboard doors with applied moulding of a shaped rectangle and a diamond, the interior of the cupboard with four sliding trays, the lower section with three drawers with brass swan neck handles and circular backplates, on shaped bracket feet.
Provenance
In 1937 Sir Geoffrey Mander and his wife Rosalie gifted Wightwick Manor, its contents and gardens to the National Trust. Sir Geoffrey and his family continued to occupy and manage Wightwick adding to the collection in collaboration with the National Trust. Sir Geoffrey died in 1962 but Lady Mander continued to live at Wightwick until her death in 1988. This linen press is listed in the Wightwick Manor 1937 inventory.
