Summary
Oil painting on panel, Genevieve by Henry Treffry Dunn (Truro 1838 - 1899), circa 1896-98. From the pen and ink drawing of 1848 (Surtees No. 38, Fitzwilliam Museum). The subject is from the poem Love by Samuel Taylor Coleridge: "She leaned against the armed man, The statue of the armed knight; She stood and listened to my lay, Amid the lingering light." This version is truncated, omitting most of the statue of the knight shown in the drawing.
