Print, woodcut, Psyche in Charon's boat (after Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones) by William Morris (Walthamstow 1834 - Hammersmith 1896). Illustration for Cupid and Psyche for Morris' Earthly Paradise - Charon was the ferryman who carried dead souls across the River Styx. Psyche was sent with a casket to Proserpine to capture her eternal beauty.
Provenance
Previously on loan to the trust in 1993. Gifted to the National Trust in 2002.
