Summary
Watercolour and ink, An assembly of Sufi saints by Indian (Provincial Mughal) School, circa 1760. This image is based on a late 17th century model of which variations were produced in the 18th century. It would have been intended for an album of paintings and specimens of calligraphy. Two rows of three seated men face one another, with the man in the middle right row looking towards the viewer. A white stone parapet beyond in a cloudy landscape. Arabic inscriptions within the painted border.
