Summary
A circular white cardboard box with large red ribbon bow on lid. Contains 4 pieces of foil-wrapped chocolate, embossed 9/4/Y/R, 2 pairs of tongs stamped from metal sheet, and letter (undated) recording that box was 94th birthday gift from makers to GBS, donated to village Summer Fete as raffle prize, won by resident of Ayot St. Peter "who treasured the near-empty box for many years".
Provenance
Charbonnel et Walker gave the box of chocolates to Shaw for his 94th birthday, 26/07/1950. He in turn donated it to the Summer Village Fete where it waswon by resident of Ayot St. Peter "who treasured the near-empty box for many years". In 1989 Miss Hilda Meech of Ayot St Peter donated it back to the property.
