Summary
Steen and lid. Red earthenware steen with lid. Sides slightly curved, sloping inwards to the base. Two handles at sides. Four grooves running horizontally around shoulder. Unglazed on the outside, light orange/brown glaze on the inside. Brown glazed lid with knob on top centre. Four groove decoration also on lid. Seven large chips around lid edge.
Provenance
Originally used for storing bread. Used at vicarage for egg preserving. Gifted to Staffordshire Museum Service. On loan from Staffordshire Museum Service to the National Trust.
