Summary
Inkstand, together with a taperstick, which perhaps formed the lid to a bougie box, a baluster-shaped penholder and inkwell, mark of William Cripps, 1751, pots each with detachable pierced covers, chased shell and scrollwork shoulders and and gadrooned borders, the taperstick of plain design with gadrooned border. See an inkstand by Paul de Lamerie, 1744-5, with the earlier arms of Anson quartering Carrier, now in the Gilbert Collection, on loan to the Victoria and Albert Museum.
