Oil painting on canvas, Lieutenant-Colonel, The Hon. Archibald Henry Augustus Anson, MP, VC (1835-1877) by British (English) School, inscribed: In Memoriam H G 1877-78,19th centruy. A bust-length portrait, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, short brown hair, reddish beard and moustache, wearing a black coat. Third son of the 1st Earl of Lichfield.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust with Shugborough’s park and contents of the state rooms, in part-payment of death-duties to the Treasury, following the death of Thomas, 4th Earl of Lichfield (1883 - 1960)
