Summary

A pair (possibly originally a set of four) of sauceboats, silver, by John Carter (1748-1817), silversmith of London, date-marked for 1772. By the same maker as a set of salvers (NT 1257299) also at Kingston Lacy.

Provenance

Bequest of the estates of Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy made to the National Trust by Henry John Ralph Bankes (1902-1981). National Trust ownership commenced on 19 August 1982.
