Oil painting on canvas, Alexander Fraser (1775-1840), after Sir Henry Raeburn, RA (Stockbridge 1756 – Edinburgh 1823), circa 1905, after an original of circa 1800. A half-length portrait, turned to right, facing, short hair and wearing a white stock; a red curtain backdrop and skyscape background right.
Provenance
Possibly painted for or acquired by Henrietta Jenny Fraser, Mrs Walter Ralph Bankes (1871-1953) of an ancestor; bequeathed to the National Trust by her only son (Henry John) Ralph Bankes, Esq. (1902-1981) together with the estate and entire contents of Kingston Lacy.
