Summary
A tulipwood cross banded mahogany and beech inlaid secretaire bookcase, English, circa 1770. The top section with a broken swan neck pediment above an inlaid simulated fluted frieze with fan paterae, and a pair of astragal glazed doors below. The lower section with a fitted secretaire drawer with drawers and pigeon holes around a cupboard door inlaid with a fan patera and with three long drawers below, raised on bracket feet. Provenance
Bequest of the estates of Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy made to the National Trust by Henry John Ralph Bankes (1902-1981). NT ownership commenced from 19th August 1982.
