Summary
Etching, group study in a roundel; a roadside scene, with a man walking on crutches at right conversing with a Turkish man at left, with various figures surrounding them, a building in the background at right, after Stefano della Bella (Florence 1610-1664), François Chauveau (French, Paris 1613–1676 Paris), published by Jacques van Merle (1616-1682), c. 1646. Inscribed 'SDB. fec.' bottom left and numbered 23 bottom right. One of a group of etchings from the Diverses figures et griffonnemens ('Various figures and doodles') published by Jacques van Merle, cut down and mounted on watermarked paper.
