Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on card, Alice Bankes, Lady Borlase (1621-1683) attributed to Samuel Cooper. Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a young woman, turned three-quarters to left, in a white dress with jet and gold buckles, pearl necklace, large pearl ear-drop. Blue eyes, long fair hair, plump face, aged about 25. Brown curtain background and sky to left. The miniature is of very good quality and close to Samuel Cooper, if not by him.
