Full description
Mrs Greville's London house was transformed into the likeness of a railway buffet, tickets were taken, trains were heard 'off Stage' and travel effects were produced. Sketch 1st March 1933 Railway Station gets set for novel charity party. Guests act as stranded travellers. A ball room that has been made into a replica of a station restaurant and buffet for the occasion was the novel setting for the cocktail party organised by the ladies appeal committee of the veterans society. The party took place at Mrs Ronald Greville's house in Charles Street, Berkley Square, London. The guest played the part of stranded travellers and noises of trains and shunting, whistles blowing and porters shouting helped make the illusion convincing. In the last image The Marchioness of Carisbrooke, wearing a cloche hat and fur coat, is on the left of Mr Dudley Rolph in his role of Station Master. Large piece of notebook paper with the four photographs glued onto it.
