Full description
A formal photograph of Hugo in a dark suit, white shirt and bow-tie. He has a white handkerchief in his breast pocket. His centre parted hair is slicked down. Hugo Denison was the son of William Francis Henry Denison, 2nd Earl of Londesborough and Lady Grace Adelaide Fane, (whose photograph is also in the Collection.1246779) Margaret Greville and Lady Grace both attended the Devonshire House Ball in 1897. Hugo's sister, Irene Mountbatten, Marchioness of Carisbrooke was a frequent guest of Margaret Greville's at Polesden Lacey and Charles Street between 1914 and 1939. Hugo Denison was 19 when this photograph was taken. Signed ‘Hugo Denison Wishing you a very happy new year. 1913’. A year later he was on the front with the Life Guards. Hugo Denison died in 1937 aged 42.
