Summary
Vanity case shaped as a wallet, c. 1915. Fabergé. Made of red porphyry, with diamond and emerald hinges set in platinum gold. Decorated with flower studies in an East Asian style of green enamel and rose diamonds. Opens to reveal a mirror. Inscribed with the word Fabergé (in Latin lettering) under the clasp, suggesting it was a Fabergé piece made for the London market.
Provenance
The bequest of Margaret (Anderson) McEwan, The Hon. Mrs Ronald - later Dame Margaret - Henry Fulke Greville, DBE (1863-1942) from probate records linked with the donation of the property to the National Trust in 1943.
