Full description
This is a studio portrait with Francis standing, in full uniform, in front of a painted backdrop at the apex of two 'stone' walls, over one of which is draped his long coat. Francis of Teck was a guest of Margaret Greville at Polesden Lacey in 1907 and 1908 Prince Francis, known as 'Frank' was born in Kensington Palace.in a Grace and Favour apartment and a country house, White Lodge, in Richmond Park. His parents were Queen Victoria's cousins. He attended Wellington College and from there to Sandhurst after which he joined the Royal Dragoons. Frank never married but was known to have had many affairs. Lady Kilmorey - 1248141, was given the Cambridge Emeralds, part of the Teck family heirlooms, by him, Queen Victoria had to pay to get them back. Francis of Teck died from complications after a minor operation
