Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, An Unknown Man in 'Vandyke' dress, by Richard Crosse (Knowle 1742 - Knowle 1810). c.1750. Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a man, his head turned to the left, gazing to the left, wearing 17th century dress, a blue jerkin with slashed sleeves and whie open-necked collar with tassels. Brown eyes, powdered hair in queue falling down back of neck, pale complexion. Plain blue-grey background, darker to the left.
