Summary
A pair of Nymphenburg saucers, painted in puce monochrome with two Cupids. Impressed shield and gilt rims. c.1770. The painter has been identified as Johann Adam Klein who was an independant decorator who worked at the Nymphenburg factory as an apprentice between 1765-1771 before setting up on his own, purchasing second quality Nymphenburg porcelain. This type of decoration is unknown at the factory until the 1790s so it is unsure whether it was painted privately by Klein after 1771, or while he was at the factory prior to this, in which case the pattern is unrecorded.
