Summary
A Meissen écuelle (two handled covered bowl) and cover surmounted by a flower knob. It has raised arabesque panels that are painted in the style of French painter Antoine Watteau (1684-1721). They depict young people in conversation accompanied by a dog. The painted figures in a landscape are made to stand out by surrounding them with relief panels. The shell in the ornate and playful relief is Rococo in style.

Mrs Ronald - later Dame Margaret - Henry Fulke Greville, DBE (1863-1942) from probate records linked with the donation of the property to the National Trust in 1943.
