Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, The Hon. Robert Stewart, later Viscount Castlereagh, then 2nd Marquess of Londonderry, K.G, GCH, MP (1769-1822) as an Officer in the Londonderry Militia, British (English) School, c.1793. Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a young man, turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, in uniform (red, white facings and froggings, silver epaulettes), black neck-cloth. Light grey eyes with five eyelashes clearly drawn, powdered hair, pale (fade) complexion, smiling expression, aged about 25. Sky background. Hair in reverse of frame.
