Summary
A walnut and burr walnut chest-on-stand, British, the chest early 18th century, the stand later, the chest with rectangular quarter-veneered top with herringbone and crossbanded borders above a moulded cornice, the chest front with two short above three long oak-lined graduated drawers, the drawers fronted with burr walnut panel veneer and a herringbone border, each drawer with replaced metalware of two brass drop handles with pierced and moulded circular backplates and a shaped lockplate, the chest sides divided into two sections by a raised band, each section with mirrored walnut veneering and with crossbanding down each side, the later stand with moulded rim and single frieze drawer, the drawer front ensuite to those of the chest, with shaped aprong and four cabriole legs with pad feet. The underside of the chest applied with a small round red label with handwriting reading '29/10/79'.
