Summary
A satinwood and burr yew bow-front dressing table, British, late 18th century, the top with bow-front and stepped front corners, the top formed of two hinged sections which split down the middle, each section inlaid with a burr yew oval on a satinwood veneer ground, the top with moulded rim, the top sections opening up to reveal a mahogany-lined well with interior dividers, the bowed front of the table with a false frieze drawer section inlaid with two slender canted rectangles of burr yew, below this section is formed of two cupboard doors, each door inlaid with oval burr yew panels, the right hand cupboard door with a brass round handle and backplate, the table on four square-section tapering and collared legs. The underside of the table applied with a white round label with handwriting reading '94'. This table is of similar design to NT 1220591 also located in the Breakfast Room at Mount Stewart.
