Summary
A padouk and oak mule chest, probably Irish, mid-18th century, the rectangular lid with moulded rim, hinged to the rear, plain sides, the front with a replaced brass lockplate, the lower stand section with moulded rim above two oak-lined frieze drawers, each drawers with a pair of later brass bail handles and a replaced brass lockplate, the stand with shaped apron and centred with a carved shell motif, on four squat cabriole legs with acanthus leaves carved to the knees and terminating in paw feet (losses). The left hand drawer with a small red round sticker to the inside with handwriting reading '9/9/76 /11.30 - 12.15'. There is also a white sticker to the underside of the chest with handwriting reading '62'.

Marks and inscriptions
Inside left drawer and underside of chest: The left hand drawer with a small red round sticker to the inside with handwriting reading '9/9/76 /11.30 - 12.15'. There is also a white sticker to the underside of the chest with handwriting reading '62'.
