Summary
Rectangular mother of pearl snuff box, Cantonese, circa 1780, with silver cagework mounts, each panel engraved with flower sprays, the lid with the initials 'M.S.'. A visiting card attached bears the printed message: 'From the King', inscribed: 'To Mrs Sneyd/Edward VII', the reverse: 'the box belonged to Mary Queen of Scots/ E.L. 1921'.

On loan to the National Trust from Lady Mairi Bury (1921-2009), 1976, then accepted by HM Government in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the National Trust, 2013
