Summary
A boxwood strung mahogany vitrine table, adapted from a work table, British, circa 1790, the glazed canted rectangle top above glazed sides made up of eight glass panels in line-incised frames, the interior of the glazed top section with a red velvet-lined base, the frieze with boxwood line-inlay, chequer-banding along the bottom edge of the frieze, on four square-section tapering legs with splayed feet, the legs inlaid with boxwood stringing to the corners, the legs joined by a shaped undertier also with boxwood stringing.
Provenance
On loan to the National Trust from Lady Mairi Bury (1921-2009) 1976, then accepted by HM Government in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the National Trust, 2013.
