Summary
A walnut and fruitwood cross-banded collectors cabinet, the moulded segmental pediment with a scrolled crest above an arrangement of forty-eight drawers raised on later shell carved cabriole legs with claw and ball feet, adapted. Bought at The Hague by Edith Londonderry (undated- prior to 1939) as recorded by her in the Inventory of Londonderry House 1939, where it stood in the Study. Edith noted: "Bought by me at The Hague. It was specially made there for a celebrated doctor of the period. He kept his drugs in the many drawers".
Provenance
On loan to the National Trust from Lady Mairi Bury (1921-2009), 1976, then accepted by HM Government in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the National Trust, 2013.
