Summary
A group of ten similar mahogany ladderback chairs, British or Irish, six second half 18th century and four of a later date, each chair has shaped and grooved uprights joined by three pierced and shaped horizontal back splats, the top rail similarly carved with scrolling ends, the drop-in seat upholstered in pink rose damask, the front seat rail applied with a carved decorative motif, the front square-section legs with carved and indented outer corners and with carved corner brackets, the rear gently splayed square-section rear legs connected to the front with a plain H-stretcher, the rear legs joined by a single plain stretcher.
