Summary
One of a pair of matching famille verte Chinese porcelain rosewater sprinkling bottles, Kangxi, the pear shape bodies decorated with pendant motifs in famille verte enamels on a white ground. Possibly from the collection of Sir Robert Cowan (d. 1737), an adminstrator with the East India Company in India, 1719-35.
Provenance
On loan to the National Trust from Lady Mairi Bury (1921-2009), 1976, then accepted by HM Government in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the National Trust, 2013
