Summary
A mahogany bow-fronted clothes press, English, late 18th century, with later modifications. Topped by a moulded cornice above a beaded frieze, and a pair of curved cupboard doors with applied, concave-cornered panel beadings, and enclosing a later hanging rail (shelves removed). The lower chest topped by a pair of short drawers above three long drawers, all cockbeaded and with pressed brass oval backplates and handles. With shaped aprons and outswept front bracket feet.
Provenance
Date of introduction to Greenway not recorded, but given to the National Trust by Mrs Rosalind Hicks (d. 2004), Anthony Hicks (d. 2005) and Mathew Prichard in 2006, and accepted in 2007.
